thanks for your reply,, actually the the file is stored in part2.txt file and yes, i want to it split it up into three sentences and print "starts with foo." then "goes to bar." then "." each on a separate output line.

here my code so far: 

use strict;

while (<>) {
    /\bit (.*)[.?!]$/i and print $1,$/;
}

[download]
and when im trying to run the script i type 
perl proj2_2.pl part2.txt

[download]
but there is no result coming up..
am i doing it right?
