enlightenment
education that results in understanding and the spread of knowledge.
As morning rounds, I sit thinking of this important
concept,
enlightenment. Many people when faced with
this word tend to think a variety of things.
For some it is a period in history, others a window
manager, or something more. But for the most part it is
this concept that has brought quite a few of us here,
whether we realize it or not. There are many here for whom
the practice of
enlightening is a rewarding and apreciated activity.
But I came across a post that disturbed me, it manifested
because of a misunderstanding and resulted in my thinking
of this wonderful community, and how such a small and
trivial post can actually effect it.
The strength and momentum of the excelent knowledge base,
and kind understanding attitude of
all the people
here cannot be interupted due to the fact that the flight
of the arrow that is Perlmonks.* is true.
But the fact remains that there are those who go astray,
and
attempt to harm the image of the monastery and
the participants that work so hard to make it "The most
friendly Perl community on the web", not realizing that
they are "urinating in their own pond".
So my meditation for this morning is to thank
ALL of
you for making this into something bigger than any
individual, for making it into an environment that allows
for such diversity and understanding that is hard to
find.
So through my meditaion I hope to help any who read this
that may waiver in their understanding at any point, to remember
what a beautiful community this is, and that we are all
really lucky that people value this and work hard to
develop it. Also that with effort we all can achive
enlightenment
So for that I thank you all!
