In November I ran a few searches in my LinkedIn account to see how many times each major programming language comes up. I posted the results in my use.perl.org journal
In response to a journalist asking me today how important Perl is for CTOs I decided to run the queries again adding all the other languages that show up on the latest TIOBE Index.So here are the results of searching in my LinkedIn account for the particular strings once with Location "Anywhere" and once with "Located in or near Israel"
(1) Searching for C, C++ or C# brings the same results.Israel World wide C(1) 907 38,314 Java 424 19,522 SQL 275 14,967 Basic 119 9,703 Perl 152 6,025 JavaScript 97 5,943 PHP 55 5,338 Visual Basic 77 4,219 SAS 9 3,340 Pascal 44 2,741 PL/SQL 43 2,119 VB.NET 66 2,022 COBOL 28 1,977 Delphi 50 1,969 Python 27 1,285 VBScript 23 1,063 Fortran 19 1,055 MATLAB 33 869 Ada 25 741 ABAP 5 598 LISP 8 549 "Java Script" 21 346 IDL 0 134 as reference linux 291 11,923 My Network 25,114 1,801,195 Monastery 0 13
