My take on patents is the same take I have on the law in Australia (did you know there are 540 pages of legislation on the GST alone.. The Commissioner Discusses Australian Tax Issues):

When they want to get you they WILL get you

In a world where business has no ethics (and C# is a product of a company dedicated to eradicating great and open languages and standards) patents are necessary to protect inventors. And yet things that would make the world better for us all are bound within legislation that protects the very powerful corporations we try and protect ourselves from.

So my only view is.. keep under the radar and hope they don't find/target you
