Thank you for your comment. This is a sticky one for me, because of the requirement I'm trying to fill.
- I cannot use an installable daemon; this was designed for a project that runs on client machines where the client refuses to install that type of software.
- I cannot guarantee access to the Internet, as this may be used on machines that are not allowed through the proxy.
- This must work on Windows and UNIX, at minimum. Win doesn't have /dev/random or anything similar built in (AFAIK).
I was pretty certain my seeder was broken somehow -- I appreciate your pointing out the n[j] < n[j+1] issue, as I hadn't noticed that. I have tried to mitigate the seeder issue by allowing one to specify one's own seed values; but, I would welcome ideas on how to solve this issue while meeting the restrictions above. I confess I'm stumped.
