Thank you for your comment. This is a sticky one for me, because of the requirement I'm trying to fill.

  1. I cannot use an installable daemon; this was designed for a project that runs on client machines where the client refuses to install that type of software.
  2. I cannot guarantee access to the Internet, as this may be used on machines that are not allowed through the proxy.
  3. This must work on Windows and UNIX, at minimum. Win doesn't have /dev/random or anything similar built in (AFAIK).

I was pretty certain my seeder was broken somehow -- I appreciate your pointing out the n[j] < n[j+1] issue, as I hadn't noticed that. I have tried to mitigate the seeder issue by allowing one to specify one's own seed values; but, I would welcome ideas on how to solve this issue while meeting the restrictions above. I confess I'm stumped.
