It's worth pointing out that many (maybe even most) Perl Mongers mailing lists are predominantly social lists. Whilst very few of them actually consider Perl questions to be off-topic[1], you'll often come across a _lot_ of non-Perl chatter on a Perl Mongers mailing list.
