YAPC::Europe::2006 - Birmingham Wins The Bid
Announcement #1

Hello, and welcome to the first bulletin about the YAPC::Europe::2006 Perl Conference from the Birmingham 2006 Organisers.

Congratulations

May we start by congratulating José, Alberto and the team on a fantastic 2005 conference in Braga. The organisation and value for money was first rate. It certainly set a new standard for YAPC::Europe that will be remembered for years to come.

Thanks guys.

Birmingham 2006

The Birmingham 2006 Organisers are now hard at work behind the scenes, preparing for the conference next year. As some readers will be aware, we began planning for the conference over 2 years ago, so now we are putting our preparations into action in earnest. We have lots to do, and will be making further announcements in due course.

Conference Theme

The conference theme has already been chosen and, as befits some key aspects of the behind the scenes organisation, is to be .... "The Accessibility Of Perl".

We hope that the theme will be an inspiration to all areas of Perl development, and generate a significant selection of interesting talks and tutorials.

Contacting Us

Should you wish to contact us, there is now an email address available for direct contact, where you can mail questions and suggestions. The address is:

organisers@birmingham2006.com

There is still the YAPC::Europe open mailing list, to which members of the team also subscribe. See the YEF Mailing List for more details.

That's all for this release. More news and announcements will follow in due course.

Thanks,

The Birmingham 2006 Organisers
