Hi Monks
I was reading some interesting perl code and saw the following line

sub new {
    my $cname = shift; 
    my $class = ref($cname) || $cname;
[download]

I don't understand what is happening here. Why not:

sub new {
    my $class = shift ;
    .....
[download]
