Currently, I use - 
 if(/<TITLE>/)
       {
       chop;
       $title = $_;
       $title =~ s/<TITLE>//g;
       $title =~ s/<\/TITLE>//g;
       }

[download]
which works well for me, and isn't too complex. If I could get that working for meta tags I'd be happy! :) Cheers for help guys
