PCE is a pure perl, crossplatform (via wxperl) text editor that is small, stable, very configurable and free(GPL). His design philosophy is pretty much close to larry's slogans and some spiritual considerations of my own. In short: joy to the soul through freedom to his own individuality, beauty and solving stupid work. The overall project is in early stage so please don't complain for macros, cvs, concurrent editing sessions, it will all come with gods help and maybe with yours. What you will get now you see in the featurelist. some highlights are:
- highlighting for 27 languages with bracelighting
- file sessions (save, restore and add)
- search in files and with simpler regexes
- All GUI stuff is ediable per XML files
and many little functions that make life easier.
So try it if you like and please report bugs into the tracker.

Currently and unfortunatly i am only able to maintain the windows port(direct download), linux version can be build upon sources there is still a bug in it while closing the onquit dialog which i couldn't fix due no linux machine but save your file before and all will work. I would be VERY HAPPY if some people would like to maintain the linux and mac port(some experimental mac port available)

Special thanks go here to mattia barbon (cpan:mbarbon) which helped me regularly and jens neuwerk for the nice icons.

PS: i know i postet somthing like this earlier but now its polished.
PPS: PCE is still placeholdfer for the cool name to come. if you know one please let me know.
thanks for reading this long chunk.

UPDATE: This hour I released a maintenance release(0.3pl2), fixing some minor bugs.
