Well, I know that a cheap answer may be "don't post OT stuff, period!" but most of us have "real lives" too, and I guess that however keen we are on Perl we also have other hobbies, or interests or a private life and the like... so if done with moderation, I don't think it would be that bad.

I do think it's a bad thing. There are many, many, many, many other places you can chat about non Perl issues. Let's keep focused here. Everyone likes other stuff besides Perl too, but when I visit Perlmonks, I don't care about your non-Perl hobbies, really.
