Hello Perlmonks and Happy Holidays! I am trying to learn how to open a flat file db and check to see if the 'email' record already exists or not. If the record doesn't exist then add it or if the email exists I would like to have it do nothing. 
    open (USRFILE,">>$svb::htmlsystempath/people.dat")||cmn::dienice("
+$lang::write_file_error ./people.dat:  $!!");
    print USRFILE "$email=$name\n";
    close USRFILE;
