You can't go wrong with Mastering Regular Expressions. If, however, you decide you have something a little less ambitious in mind, you may want to look at YAPE::Regex::Explain or perhaps GraphViz::Regex...
Reverse engineering regular expressions is an interesting read, and grinder's Regexp::Assemble is simply awesome.
