It is true that you will use the tool that you understand as "fits best." But that does'nt make it the best tool for the job. That you're using Java for GUI, Bash for filesystem, etc. depends IMO on your company, your strategies, your experiences and many, many other factors. It's not because Java is just the right tool for the GUI job but because it's the best tool in your worker's hand.
