First I'm in my 2nd week of trying to code in perl but I am not asking for anyone to write my code for me by any means.

Platform: win2k3 w/ activestate 5.8.x perl installed

The task I have been given is to take two files and find records that no longer exist in file one, but exist in file 2.
file 1 will have one column of data:
user01
user02
user03

file 2 will have two colums of data:
user01 user01@emailaddress.com
user03 user03@emailaddress.com
user04 user04@emailaddress.com

Each file has approximately 190,000 records in it. I started to use the windows findstr command but it was running for over 2 hours. Someone suggested that Perl might be able to do this faster so here I am looking for guidance.

Thank you,

mn
