What does everyone think about that? Am I totally crazy?Yes. Or maybe you are just over-generalizing, thinking your little slice of the world is exactly the same as everyone else's. There are plenty of domains where faster programs == more money. As a personal example, I once worked for a biggish engineering company where no matter how often the machines were upgraded, they were almost always running at 100% CPU. Why? Because faster machines implied you could produce more detailed simulations, which resulted in better products, which meant the customers were happier ($$$).
