I have to begin the search for solutions for the design and implementation of the Capture/Playback feature for use in mission-critical applications. As I understand the feature, it operates at the I/O level, capturing keystrokes, timestamping the keystrokes, and playing back the keystrokes in visual mode as these are saved in a "session" file. So, if I were to have the feature tied to the "Add your question" application, all these keystrokes I'm making, would be captured, timestamped, and when I started the application at some later time, and indicated I wanted to replay this "session", all the keystrokes would be recreated for my visual enjoyment. Does that make sense? Now, since I know nothing, and need to know where to begin the search for such a feature, specifically in perl, can anyone suggest a starting point? Does anyone want to know the grand vision? Well, if so, it's basically this: Utilize this feature as an audit trail for mission-critical applications that require user input of data. Each field is filled out, with each keystroke timestamped, and playback is visual, which will enable a handful of reviewers to quickly and efficiently monitor the "source" data. Timestamping of the keystrokes also makes it real nice for reporting changes to fields over time, and report those changes in various formats. I mean, is this the stuff perl is made for, or what? Well, I hope I didn't come barging in at the wrong place, wrong time, and that your replies are condescending, rather than scathing! Thanks, Tom
