I have summarized my initial proposals for the new direction for .pmc to Perl5-Porters here: http://www.nntp.perl.org/group/perl.perl5.porters/110699 -- it might be worth a look as well.

Also, to cleanly shift control between .pmc and .pm, #p5p has been talking about a "goto *FH" form for bleadperl -- but this may or may not happen. Would be so much fun, though.
