If this is really all you want, then why does the regex detail all that other stuff? If you don't need to validate that the rest of the data adhere to the format, I would simplify the code to just get what you want, ignoring aught else... 

  my ($opt) = $test =~ $brace;
  my ($set) = $test =~ $box;
  my @opt = split $delim, $opt;
  my @set = split $delim, $set;
