So I've got this little problem to fix and I want find some way to get perl into the resolution. This is a duct tape job (that'll probably get heavy re-use) so I'm thinking there's got to be some way that Perl could do it better.

Essentially what I need to create is a bridge between an XML document and a COM object with the caveat that it run on a Unix Java application server.

Sun Java to COM is a very heavy convoluded process as far as I can tell from my limited research. I can't even find anyone that's done it successfully except via an extra CORBA conversion (Java2CORBA2COM), Or a proprietary Java2COM bridge. It seems to be that a straight XML2COM Perl bridge would be a better way to go, but information is hard to find.

I went through the Super Search and the Perl to Java references to JPL. But a custom JVM probably would not fly in this environment, and seems uneeded given that the main problem is passing info to a COM obj from Unix. The perl and COM node yeilds no information as the only link provided is now dead.

I've also given a cursory look at the Java module on CPAN but running yet another server process also seems like overkill when I can just use a servlet on the app server to catch the incomming XML.

Just wondering if any of the great minds here have any ideas and directions to search, or am I just futiley resisting dealing with Java and CORBA.
