No Darren I wasn't aiming at you as you did answer my question! What wrankles is that some of the people answering the question make false presumptions! I have no great wish/desire/preference to use goto the problem is I am writing a production wrapper around 3rd party software that I am not allowed to amend even if I felt the inclination! I can't modularise their code into nice little subroutines I've got to work with what they supply!
