I work for one of the largest software companies in the world. For the last couple of years, I architected, developed and maintain a pure Perl application that is considered mission-critical by the company I work for.

That is: if it stops working, thousands of users across the globe have to stop working also. The application has to be available 24x7.

So far, I have never had a problem that was related to the choice of language, and I never regretted choosing Perl.
