I'm putting together a proposal for an application which will probably need to run on Linux as well as DR-DOS.

For the Linux version, I'm looking at Perl/Tk, with mySQL providing the database backend (each system running the application will have it's own database, for those times when the central database is out of action). All doable, no problems there.

However, when I start to look into the viability of running Perl on DR-DOS, I find there is a port (DJGPP), it has a few DR-DOS imposed restrictions, but what can I use for the database?

MySQL isn't an option (I think), seeing as it doesn't appear to run purely under DOS (requires winsock2). So the only other solution I could find was using the GNU port of the gdbm libraries.

I was wondering if any Monks have experience of this combination, and could offer any advice, or better suggestions.
