I'd like to split a line like this 
list($type,$id,$no,$date1,$text,$date2)=split(/magic pattern/,'#VER ""

or 
list($type,$id,$no,$date1,$text,$date2)=split(/magic pattern/,'#VER "X
+y Z" 3 19950101 SingleWord 19950608')

And to make it more complex: 
list($type,$id,$gl,@obj,$amount)=split(/magic pattern/,'#TRANS 3042 {1
+ 2} -1000.00')

Any ideas?
