Please. Do not deactivate up2date. It's better to deal with the odd issue like this than to have your machine utterly "p0wned" because you aren't installing the latest security fixes anymore.
It is better to abandon RedHat altogether to go with a distribution whose package manager you trust better than it is to disable the security updates for the distro you're using now.
