FYI, the Perl
compiler is being removed for Perl 5.10.
I'm one of the unfortunate few that will be affected by this as I use B::Bytecode to compile a large CGI (Oddmuse Wiki ~4000 lines) to speed it up under Apache where I don't have mod_perl, mod_fastcgi, etc.. (At least I assume it speeds it up by eliminating Perl's compile phase. Then again, maybe I'm deluding myself.)
perl2exe doesn't work under Cygwin, and PAR uses B::Bytecode if you want compiled code. So can anyone suggest an alternative that may help speed up large CGIs?
Update:
I looked into PPerl, but it fails to build under Cygwin. (Also, it doesn't seem to be being maintained anymore.) Thanks for the suggestion, though. Any more ideas?
Remember: There's always one more bug.
