hi monkers, any suggestions for the below method of string matching? say, i wanna match the first and the last character of the string, and then,compare the inbetween ones.for eg: 
@a= "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPCDEFQRST";
$find="CDEF";

i want to find whether C and F are present first in @a, and then only check for inbetween characters(D and E). i keep incrementing first(after finding C) and then decrementing it when i find a last character match(ie.,F). but it doesnt seem to work. any ideas? thanks.
