Yes, this is a username. You can tell much about a node by reading the following line:

on May 05, 2006 at 17:46 CDT ( #547764=user: print w/ replies, xml )

Note the node number, equals sign, and the node type. It tells you that 547764 is a user. This can be handy when trying, for example, to disambiguate between if and a language element of the same name.
