You could just put all the parameters into place with one call, like this:

$template->param( foo       => "bar",
                  username  => "steve",
                  is_admin  => 0 );

[download]

Sure that doesn't use loops, or arrays as the tmpl_loop construct would, but you've avoided multiple param() calls.
