Like much of sf, perllinux is a stale project. PPT is also stale, though the current maintainers are more willing to accept a potentially active participant than has been historically the case. In any event, I disagree with the disparagement of PPT. You have to keep in mind that it's not a distribution in the normal sense, but simply a collection of programs written by random people trying to reimplement (portions of) SYSV userland behavior. Some people/scripts succeed better than others. (UPDATE: This would be like trashing CPAN because you had a hard time with a few modules) For a bit more information see
