In using the clear screen command, I do not use the output clarification, but rather just the following at the beginning of a scripts I use it in:  system 'cls'

It will clear the screen. I am using WinXP and it works fine, with the exception of using an interactive editor session. In which case, if the call is not commented out, it tries to call forward the last windows frame used and clear it. Then it become annoying.
