Are your machines effectively identical (i.e. similar hardware, built in the same way software wise)? This sounds a bit like flaky hardware (probably RAM, maybe CPU/cooling) to me. Any chance you can run some diagnostics (memtest86) or, better, swap out the RAM or CPU or mobo with a spare?
