You should take a closer look at XP before criticising it like that. Look at the XP web site or read Extreme Programming Explained.

Pair programming is only one small part of XP and it works nothing like the way you assume. There aren't junior and senior partners in a pair. A particular pair might only exist for a day and then both programmers move on to other pairs.

I confess that I had a similar reaction to you when I first heard about it, but I've investigated further and I'm more excited by XP than I've ever been by any other development methodology. I can't wait to find a project enlightened enough to give it a try.
