I completely agree. The idea of paired programming gives me the creeps. So does the word 'Extreme.' XP may have benefits but I don't see this as one of them. Having someone senior to me say my code sucks or being weighed down by a junior coder (in effect, training him) seems unpleasant. And why stop at pairs, why not have 15 programmers huddled around the screen?
