You're looking for DBM::Deep. It automatically marshals Perl datastructures and can act as a DBM without a problem. 1.0000 will also have transactions. :-)
My criteria for good software:
  1. Does it work?
  2. Can someone else come in, make a change, and be reasonably certain no bugs were introduced?
