I thought it wasn't awful (never tried but ...) you need
to install it in a subdir and muck w/ @INC by; use lib ./myperl/lib;
env vars (PERLLIB or PERL5LIB); or perl -I<dir> (see
perldoc perlrun for better suggestions). You may have to down
load the cpan tarball and tell it to install under
your home dir to start w/, of course.
