Old advice, often given, ignored at the cost of lots of wasted time: Use strictures (use strict; use warnings;).
If you are using strictures note that the loop variable ($line in foreach $line (@navmod)) is not the same variable outside the loop - it gets aliased to each element that is iterated over. foreach my $line (@navmod) is a strong hint that you understand that.
