Interesting. Didn't know people actually toasted to the word "cheers". I'd always figured "cheers" was a slang term -- a sort of meta-toast -- that was used more as a figure of speech, or possibly used in a sarcastic manner, such as, "Well, it's 11 pm, the server's down, and we're stuck here until it's fixed. {raises cup of cold coffee} Cheers.".
