The ||= performs an assignment only when the lvalue is false. "$x ||= $y" is equivalent to "if ( ! $x ) { $x = $y }".
In this case, if $sheet->{MaxRow} doesn't have a non-zero value, it takes the value of $sheet->{MinRow}.
