I thought it was a reference to chapter and verses, but there are only 26 verses in Genesis 4. The numbers for each left-hand number are in order.
So what if they're words from each chapter? The 3rd, 23rd, and 24th words of the first chapter are: "beginning", "the", "face". 4th chapter, 19, 22, 39, are: "man", "LORD", "was". This doesn't seem to work.
Perhaps letters of the chapter? Genesis 1:1 is "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth". The 3rd, 23rd, and 24th letters are "ted". Genesis 4:1 is "And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD." Again, the 19th, 22nd, and 39th letters are: "iad". I can't figure it out.
Does anyone here have any insight into the pattern?
