Like I said on IRC, just because I don't find a use for it doesn't mean there isn't one. Clearly atleast one person has a need for it (being you), so why wouldn't someone else? Unless you're sure that your situation is so rare and uniqueue that nobody else will ever run into it, I'd say CPAN it!

If you submit it (with a sensible name) people will find it, and suggest features that will make it more usable or usful they may even submit patches.
