If you really want to "slice" (not really "splice") your hash then you can:
my %hash = ( 'foo' => [1,2,3], 'bar' =>[3,4,5]); my @wantedKeys = qw(foo); my %wanted; @wanted{@wantedKeys} = @hash{@wantedKeys};
