k ill explain what i am trying to do

i am trying to make a chat program
the server - except msg's from the client
the client - sends msg's to the server

but i want to add 1 more option
that it will be a chat
it means
the server while he get's msg's he'll be able to send msg's to the client

same with the client

someone told me i need to use threads but i dont know how
