I'm a perl newbie, been using Hypermart's free hosting to execute my perl scripts. Is it possible to install modules on the unix server through FTP? I'll been reading up on the web and it seems like modules can only be installed through the Unix shell. Is that really so?

And does anyone have an idea of the max size of a string variable in perl?
