If you don't want to use a module, the simplest way of e-mailing to user@host.com is by calling:

    open( SENDMAIL, "|/usr/lib/sendmail -oi -t -odq")

    print SENDMAIL $Hdr.$Msg;
    close(SENDMAIL) or warn "sendmail didn't close correctly!";
