Smoked french oak in the living room and adjacent rooms, with hard tiles in the same color-palet in the open kitchen (no threshold) and in the toilet. We even found a sealant in exactly the same color as the wood that has no silicones. My sister proved oak to not be the best choice in the kitchen: dark stains and so.
