Replace round() with: 
sub round {
    my ($num) = @_;
    return int( $num * 100 ) / 100;
}

There's a much simpler commas() function, too, but I wouldn't replace what isn't broken.
My criteria for good software:
  1. Does it work?
  2. Can someone else come in, make a change, and be reasonably certain no bugs were introduced?
