I repectfully disagree. There are quite a few community developed softwares out there and are successful. Even Perl 5 is much more successful than 6.
Perl 6's problems have nothing to do with the community, but lack of management and control. Larry Wall has allowed himself to be Gobachev (sorry I cannot spell that loser's name) instead of Putin, if you get what I am saying.
