CPANPLUS based smoke testers will only notify the module author of a FAIL if they detect that this is the first time it has failed.For me, I like to get *every* fail report, especially for distributions like Tk where things like different window managers may cause different fail reports. The fail reports on nntp.perl.org do not have a complete From: address, so there's no possibility for me to ask the tester for more information.
I think CPAN::Reporter always uses the @cpan.org address of the author, so there usually no problem here.
