I wish I had it bookmarked, but one of my favourite threads here went something like this (from memory):

Monk1: And here's my awesome answer
Monk2: That doesn't work.
Monk1: It should work.
Monk2: No it doesn't. Here's the proof (inserts code)
Monk1: Patched Perl. Now it works.

Hard to argue with someone who has a commit bit.
